Alexandrea Schaafsma found eternal peace on April 5, 2026. She first graced the world with her presence on August 25, 1993 to proud parents Andre A. Ryan and Iona R (Glacking) Ryan. A natural creative and free-spirited soul, she found joy in capturing life’s moments through photography. She often captured the sweet memories that she created by planning parties and holidays. She was an amazing cook and continually surprised us with innovative and tasty recipes. Often, she baked intricate cakes for birthdays and events. She was the light of the party and the glue that held us all together. A competitive streak was never more evident than when the Pittsburgh Steelers played, but only a close second to family game nights, volleyball, or badminton.
Alex is survived by Tyler Schaafsma, the love of her life, her first love, and the father of her three wonderful boys; Bradley, Liam, and Asher Schaafsma. She is also survived by her father, Andre Ryan, and sisters, Rachelle Stewart and Christina Ryan. She was the favorite aunt to many nieces and nephews; Zach, Chloe, Jade, Trinity, Alceed, and Saffron.
She was preceded in passing by her mother, Iona Ryan.
A memorial and celebration of her memory will be held on Sunday, April 12th, 2026, at 1:00 pm at DeBaun Funeral Home in Terre Haute with a luncheon and an opportunity to share memories immediately following. Online condolences can be made at www.debaunfuneralhomes.com.
