Zula Freda Weir, 91, longtime Terre Haute resident passed away August 18, 2016 at her residence. She was born in St. Louis on August 29, 1924 to Clyde and Violent (Blystone) Overdorff. She was a homemaker and a mother. She had been employed as a breakfast cook at Indiana State University. She was a member of Calvary Temple. On July 3, 1941 she married Joseph Weir and he preceded her in death on April 29, 2009. She was also preceded in death by a daughter Lynn Pounds, a brother Clyde Overdorff, and a sister Jane Jeffers. Her survivors include four daughters Catherine Marie Weir, JoeAnn Funkhouser, Jean Tapp, and Janie Meneely and her husband Jim. There are also several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at DeBaun Springhill Chapel on Monday, August 29, 2016 at noon. Calling will be from 10 a.m. until service time. Burial will be next to her husband in New Harmony Cemetery. The family extends their gratitude and thanks to Dr. Mardini, Gentiva Hospice, Area 7, and to her daughter and caregiver Jean Tapp.
