Wilma Harlan, 94 of Terre Haute, passed away at 5:47 AM on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 in her residence. She was born in southern Vigo County on May 29, 1922 to Pete Mars and Odessa Frakes Mars. Wilma, along with her husband Burch, owned Sycamore Lane Farms. Wilma is survived by her two children, Mars Harlan & wife Susan, and Peggy Harlan. Also surviving are three grandchildren; Sarah Beth Jones (husband Will), Abigail Desboro (husband Dave), and Clayton Harlan, and by her great granddaughter, Claire Desboro, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Burch Robertson Harlan on January 3, 2016, and daughter-in-law Ellen Harlan. Wilma was a member of Prairieton United Methodist Church, and enjoyed playing Bridge with her sisters and family. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, and their involvement with the People to People Tours, and loved to entertain, especially during the Holidays. Funeral services will be held at Prairieton United Methodist Church on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Duane Caperton officiating. Burial will follow in New Harmony Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, June 30, 2016 from 10:00 - 11:00 AM at the Church. The family would like to thank her caregivers from Comfort Keepers; Jessica, Melody, Audrey, Miranda, Katy, Kathy, Vivian, and Mary and others throughout the years. Arrangements are under the direction of DeBaun Springhill Chapel.
