William A. Smith, 71, of Terre Haute died in his home Thursday December 29, 2016 at 1:59 pm. He was born and raised in Staunton, IN on August 19, 1945 to Mary Frances Brown Smith Miller and Arthur Luther Smith. He is survived by his wife, Connie Sue Hubenthal Williams Smith, 10 children, 36 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren with one on the way, and several brothers and sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Connie Smith. He served in the US Navy for 4 years where he was a Boatswain's Mate and cross-rated as a Personnelman. He retired from Bemis after 25 years. His favorite past-time was to draw and doodle and make all the grandkids names in Bubble letters. He lived for his wife, children, and grandchildren. Graveside services will be Monday January 2, 2017 at 1:00 pm in Grandview Cemetery with the Vigo County Veterans Honor Guard providing military honors.
