William E. Stewart, 93, of Terre Haute passed away on Monday, September 25, 2023.  He was born June 24, 1930, in Dallas, Texas to Willard B. Stewart and Gladys L. Frazier Stewart.  Bill proudly served his country in the United States Army.  He was a member of the Riley American Legion Post 328 and VFW Post 972.  Bill was a very strong supporter of veterans and those organizations that assisted disabled veterans and veteran's benefits.  He was an avid bowler.  He lived and worked in Terre Haute for most of his life and retired from Wabash Fibre Box.  Most of all he was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Stewart, sons Dennis E. Stewart (Sharon), William A. Stewart (Theresa), stepsons Dale E. Barnes (Mary) and Michael O. Barnes (Margaret), sixteen grandchildren, thirty-eight greatgrandchildren, eight great greatgrandchildren, sister Patricia Shoffstall and son-in-law Alfred Sons.  Bill is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Nancy K. Sons, son Danny L. Stewart, granddaughter Shelley Sons Beaulieu, grandson Mitchell Barnes, sister Mary A. Daub, and brother Elmer L. Shaw.

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 28, 2023, at DeBaun Springhill Chapel from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  Service will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Pastor Tom Norris will officiate.  Burial will follow at New Harmony Cemetery.  Online condolences may be made to www.debaunfuneralhomes.com.
