Virginia Whitkanack, 68 of Prairie Creek, passed away on Monday, January 25, 2016 at 9:50 AM at Springhill Village. She was born in Terre Haute on December 19, 1947 to Robert P. Whitkanack and Pauline Nickles Whitkanack. Virginia was a computer lab supervisor at ISU, was a member of Prairie Creek First Baptist Church, and attended Higher Ground Church. She is survived by one sister, Phyllis Dowell (and husband Jerry), and a brother, Robert L. Whitkanack (and wife Judy), and their sons Luke Whitkanack (wife Amber and children Tate and Bailey), and Zach Whitkanack (wife Jessica and children Emery and Afton). She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Rusty Whitkanack. Funeral services will be held at DeBaun Springhill Chapel on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at 1:00 PM, with Rev. Kevin Dobson officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Creek Westlawn Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Thursday from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM at DeBaun Springhill Chapel. The family of Virgina would like to express their gratitude to Springhill Village for the excellent care given to Virginia during her stay there. The family also suggests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to their charity of choice, in memory of Virginia.
