Virginia M. Harris-Drake, 69, of Fairbanks passed away on September 30, 2013. She was born on April 15, 1944 in Cincinnati, OH to Charles F. and Agnes I. (Dyer) Jones. She was a retired medical off ice assistant having worked for several doctors offices. She attended Maryland Community Church, had been a volunteer at Miller's Merry Manor in Sullivan, and enjoyed playing the piano. She also enjoyed watching hummingbirds and was known as a practical joker. Her first husband, James Harris, preceded her in death in 1983. She is survived by her husband, Lester Drake whom she married in 1985; two daughters Tracy Belmar and Jamie Thompson; a step son Larry Drake and his wife Tonya; two step-daughters Brenda Rea and Polly Shiflett; a brother Rev. William F. Jones and his wife Susan; grandchildren Adriana, Alaina, and James Belmar; Britney Riggs, Darby McPheeters, Anthony Johns, Adam Johns, Robert Shiflett and Tara Shiflett; two nieces and one nephew. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a step-son Lee Drake. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at DeBaun Springhill Chapel with Vince McFarland officiating. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. Burial will be in Pogue Cemetery, Fairbanks. Memorials can be made to Alzheimers Research with envelopes available at the funeral home.
