Virginia was one of the original "Rosie the Riveters" during WW II. It was also during the war that she met her husband of forty years, Job W. Anderson, who was serving in the US Navy in Washington (state) and California. After the war, Virginia and Job returned to his hometown of Terre Haute. Virginia was known for her generous nature and her great athleticism. She bowled with the Terre Haute Women's Bowling League for many years, serving in a variety of offices while maintaining a 165 average. Although she took up the sport late in life, Virginia excelled in golf, playing with the Indiana Senior Women's Golf Association. She made two holes–in-one, which she remembered with great pride. Virginia is survived by her son, Richard; her grandchildren Angela, Rick, (Crystal), Amber, and Ashley (Fernando); one great grandchild, Renna, two brothers Rocky and Dick, one sister, Anna Mae, and various nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sister Margaret, and her brother Don. Graveside services will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park at 11:00 AM on Thursday, July 16, 2015. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, in her memory. Arrangements are under the direction of DeBaun Springhill Chapel.
