Virgil L. Johnson, 75, of Prairie Creek passed away Friday June 3, 2016 at 9:20 am. He was born July 3, 1940 in Gary, IN to Rella Velma Resse Blair. He is survived by sons, Virgil Johnson II (Nicki) of Prairie Creek and Ted Hogan of south Carolina; daughters, Jeanna Johnson of Terre Haute; step-son, John Bays of Rosedale; step-daughter, Tina Bays of Terre Haute; sisters, Imogene Chapman of Terre Haute, Alice Clark of Standford, WA, Carolyn Edwards of Sandford, FL, Ruby Blair of Tavares, FL, and Sally Blair of Manford, OK; a brother, Walter Blair of Terre Haute; 10 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and sisters, Peggy Blair and Rella Velma Blair. Virgil was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Visitation will be Tuesday June 7, 2016 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm in DeBaun Springhill Chapel with funeral services at 1:00 pm in the funeral home with Pastor Jeff Lee officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Vigo County Veterans Honor Guard. Burial will be at a later date in Florida.
