Violet A. Smothers, formerly of Farmersburg, passed away November 30, 2014 at Rochester, IN where she had lived for the past seven years. She was born in Terre Haute on April 26, 1931 to Jacob and Eva Graves and they have preceded her in death. She was also preceded by her husband, Jack Smothers, in 1997. She had been a waitress and was a homemaker. Her survivors include two daughters, Debbie Quick and her husband John, Kathy Cooprider and her husband Ron; four sons Michael Smothers and his wife Peggy, Jack Smothers and Pam Martin, Terry Smothers, and Kenny Smothers and his wife Anita. She has ten grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren. She was also preceded by numerous sisters and brothers and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in DeBaun Springhill Chapel with Rev. Don Ransford officiating. Calling will be from 11 a.m. until service time.
