Victor "Vernon" Jones, 91, of Terre Haute, passed away October 31, 2013 at 9:36 PM at Cobblestone Health Center Vernon was born in Paris, Illinois to Cecil Arbuckle Jones and Victor Jones, on April 29, 1922. He graduated from Paris High School in 1942. He worked in Anchorage, Alaska until he served in the U.S Navy in WW II. He served as an electrician from 4/30/43 to 11/20/45 on the USS Chandeleur. He is proceeded in death by son, Robert (Bobby) Jones, December, 1971, wife, Delma Etheridge Jones, June 2011, Sister Virginia La Bounty, and parents. He is survived by 5 step daughters, Jerri, Linda, Jan, Alicia, and Denise. niece, Laurel, nephews; Lanny and Larry, and many cousins. Post war he had the opportunity to have his own local business, Appliance Service Company in the Terre Haute area for over 30 years. He is a member of VFW and American Legion. He loved traveling, especially by train. He also enjoyed, hunting, fishing, woodworking, and had a green thumb for orchids and flowers, and fan of the Cardinals! He never met a donut or chocolate desert he didn't like. Visitation will be held at DeBaun Funeral Home, 85 E. Springhill Dr. on Sunday, November 3, 2013 at 2:00 – 6:00. Funeral service will be held in the funeral home on November 4, 2013 at 2:30 PM. Entombment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. A special thanks to the fabulous staff at Cobblestone Health Center, he loved everyone and looked forward to every bus trip! Also, a very special thanks to Great Lakes Hospice in assisting him with comfort, caring, and dignity.
