Vernon M.
Cook
June 22, 1927 – April 15, 2020
Vernon M. Cook, 92, of Terre Haute went to be with the Lord Wednesday, April 15, 2020. He was born June 22, 1927 to Marvin and Maude Cook in Terre Haute, Indiana. He married Euleta Joslin on October 5, 1945. They had three children, Donna, Elaine, and Dennis. After Euleta's death in 2002, Vernon married Catherine Vermillion on April 29, 2003. He was a member of Oregon Baptist Church and attended Cornerstone Bible church for the past 18 years.
Vernon was a man who wore many hats throughout his lifetime. Carpenter, milkman, grocer, gas station attendant, Air Force Sergeant, cabinet and door salesman, office manager, real estate salesman, landlord, real estate appraiser, and retired as a Mortgage Officer and Vice-President at First Financial Bank. He tinkered with automobiles (rebuilt a 1930 Model A) and heavy equipment, made furniture, remodeled houses for his family, gave remarkable advice to any who came seeking, and he sang bass in gospel quartets all through his life; 33 years with the Crusaders Quartet. He was a wonderful father, husband, grandfather, church member, and friend. Above all of these earthly things and vocations, Vern was a Christian man. He loved Jesus and all of his success in life he credited to God's blessings on him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Donna, brothers Joe and Glen, and sister Wanita. He is survived by his wife Catherine, daughter Elaine Thomas (Paul) Thomas, son Dennis Cook (Linda), step-daughter Lorri Schuster (Keith), step-son Brian Vermillion (Beth), 14 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
