Vernice Arleen Rogers, 76 of Terre Haute, passed away at 1:20 AM on Monday, October 12, 2015 in her residence. She was born in Terre Haute on April 3, 1939 to Max Davis and Hazel Lyday Davis. Vernice was a retired school teacher, having taught at Ben Franklin Elementary for many years. Her memberships include the Wabash Valley Breast Cancer Survivors, The Terre Haute Sewing Club, BUNCO Club, and the Red Hat Society. She is survived by two daughters, Laura Bartlett and Sally Ann O' Brien, and by one son, William Lawrence Rogers, Jr. Also surviving are her grandchildren; Kathryn Bartlett, Jonathon Rogers, Jessyca Rogers Salako, John Michael O' Brien, Emily O' Brien, and Andrew Reyes. In addition, she is survived by one great granddaughter, Tynlee Gubor. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Lawrence Rogers, Sr., granddaughter Amanda Bartlett, and son-in-law Robert Alan Bartlett. Funeral services will be held at DeBaun Springhill Chapel on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, October 14, 2015 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at DeBaun Springhill Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Terre Haute Humane Society, in her memory.
