Tonjua Rae Merritt, 49, of Terre Haute, passed away on April 5, 2013. She was born in Terre Haute on November 27, 1963 to Andrew Merritt and Marilyn Smith Merritt. She is survived by her children Cathleen Crowe, Josey Crowe, and Miles Portee. Also surviving are her grandchildren; Ja Shawn Allen, Korian Stanley, Terian Briggs, Nayley Lalakai, Leiland Crowe, Cherish Crowe, and Aaliyah Portee. In addition, Tonjua is also survived by her father, Andrew J. Merritt & current wife Jan, as well as her brothers and sisters, Tamara Fagg & husband Bob, Becky Sanders & husband Mark, Kevin John David Merritt, and Rachel Dawn Merritt, as well as 11 nieces and nephews and 6 great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother Marilyn Merritt, and sister-in-law, Rhonda Merritt. Funeral services will be held in DeBaun Springhill Chapel on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 at 1:30 PM. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday from 11:30 Am -1:30 PM in DeBaun Springhill Chapel. Memorial contributions be made to the family to help defray funeral expenses.
