Thomas Warren Montgomery, 87, of Terre Haute Indiana, passed away at home surrounded by family on September 20, 2024, after battling cancer.

Tom was born on November 27, 1937, to Myrtle and Otto in Bloomington, Indiana. Tom graduated from Honey Creek High School. He enlisted in the United States Navy and received an Honorable Discharge in April of 1963.

Tom married and became a father while working as a janitor at Indiana State University. He then worked as a teller at Terre Haute First National Bank, and finally started his own janitorial business called T&L Floor Care.  He was respected by many businesses in town for his work ethic and attention to detail. His studies led him to preach for over sixty years. He met the needs of several country churches through song-leading and preaching in the surrounding counties. He was a singer/song writer and local recording artist and part-time Superstar.

In 1960 Tom met Louise Magill while working at ISU. Tom and Louise went on to have five children. Tom is survived by Tomya and Craig Peters of Tulsa, OK, Tracy and Tim Henderson of Terre Haute, IN., and Tiffany and Jason Manhart of Bridgwater, MA. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, Elijah and Kristen Peters of Palmerston North, New Zealand, Mickenzie and Matthew Hyatt of Belton, TX, Daniel and Nyasha Peters of Tulsa, OK, Tabitha and Jason Moura of Glenpool, OK, Micah and Doug Morgan of Lumberton, TX, Coleman Roberson and Mattie Hoard of Fishers, IN, Madison and Grayson Turner Terre Haute, IN, Isaiah Manhart of  Bridgwater, MA, Salena Manhart of Bridgwater, MA, Sophia Henderson and Dylan Roberts of Terre Haure, IN., Samantha Selph, Casandra and Trent Isle, Timothy Montgomery, and Zachary Montgomery of Terre Haute, IN.

Surviving great-grandchildren are Caden, Judah, Gemma, Finlee, Lincoln, Ezra, Reia, Dax, Ziva, Aria, Maverick, Oliver, Zion, Hamish, and Zora.

Tom is survived by one sister, Mona Miller Donahue of Indianapolis, IN., and a cherished cousin Larry Adamson of Franklin, TN.

Tom was preceded in death by his two sons Timothy Warren in 1972, Trevor Lane in 2021,  grandchildren Samantha Peters in 1981, and Cooper Morgan in 2021.

Music was his passion, and he was inspired by some greats like Sinatra, Jerry Lee Lewis, Tommy Overstreet, and Keely Smith. When he was not leading worship on Sunday, he sang with bands in the evenings. He recorded two albums and four 45's. The family favorites were the children's songs that have been enjoyed for three generations and can still be found on the internet.

A visitation for friends and family will be held at DeBaun Springhill Chapel on Friday, September 27, 2024, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Burial will be private.
