Susan Gail Hopler, 59, of Terre Haute passed away in her home on Thursday, July 23, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 9, 1966, to Harold W. Hopler, Jr. and Pamela E. Simons Hopler. Susan graduated from Terre Haute South High School in 1984. She went on to Indiana State University where she studied nursing, graduating with her BSN in 1989. Following college, she bravely enlisted in the United State Air Force. She was a Desert Storm veteran serving state side. Susan returned home and began her nursing career with Union Hospital, dedicating 23 years of compassionate care to thousands of patients. She was a certified oncology nurse most recently working at the Hux Center. Susan was a member of St. Joseph University Parish. Her caring spirit, compassionate heart, and kind soul touched so many lives. Susan’s presence will be missed immensely by her family and friends. Special heartfelt thanks to Hospice of the Wabash Valley for their sympathetic and compassionate care.
She is survived by her mother, Pamela Hopler, children William H. Meyer and Alexandria E. Sisson (John), grandson Gabriel W. Sisson, siblings Eric M. Hopler and Sandy C. Hirsch (David), aunts, uncle, cousins, beloved friends, and co-workers. Susan was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Harold, Sr. and Dorothy Hopler, maternal grandparents Harold and Charlotte Simons, and father Harold Hopler, Jr.
Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, August 8, 2026, at St. Joseph University Parish at 11:00 a.m.
A Celebration of Life will also be held Saturday, August 8, 2026, at DeBaun Funeral Home at 4:00 p.m. Military honors and Nurse’s Honors will be performed at that time. The family will welcome visitors from 2:00 p.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers, donations in remembrance of Susan may be made to Hospice of the Wabash Valley.
