Sue Vencel Phillips, 82, of Prairie Creek passed away Sunday January 31, 2021 in Union Hospital. She was a school bus driver for the Vigo County School Corporation. Sue was born November 1, 1938 in Terre Haute to Woodrow Louis and Mary Catherine (Bates) Vencel. Sue is survived by a daughter, Mary Taylor of Indianapolis; son, Jason Phillips of Prairie Creek; sister, Brenda Cannady Vencel of Arizona; brothers, Allen Vencel of Arizona, Lloyd Vencel of Morocco, IN, and Lance Vencel of Prairie Creek and their spouses; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hayden Allen Phillips who died March of 2005; daughter, Melinda Furney and son, Terry Taylor. Graveside services will be Wednesday February 3, 2021 at 1:00 pm in New Harmony Cemetery with Pastor Larry Lilly officiating. DeBaun Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
