Obituary

Steven Sampson, 71, of Farmersburg, IN passed away Thursday April 30, 2015 at Cobblestone Healthcare Center after a short battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Karen (Romine) Sampson; daughters, Stephanie and husband T. Ray of Marshall, IL and Gini Sampson of Rockville, IN ; son, Chris Sampson of Arley, AL; grandchildren, Ashlyn and Kalyn Henry and Chase and Garrett Nichols; brothers, James Sampson of Shelburn, IN, John Sampson of Lolita, CA; sister, Martha Martin and husband Duane of New Palestine, IN and several nieces, nephews and special friends. Steven was born July 5, 1943 in Melrose Park, IL to Nema (Webster) Sampson, who preceded him in death. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He served in the US Army from 1965 to 1967 when he was honorably discharged. He owned and operated Main Standard Service Station in Farmersburg for many years. He retired from Peabody Coal Company in 2011 and he was a member of the Shelburn American Legion Post #197. Visitation will be Sunday May 3, 2015 from 4:00 until 8:00 pm in DeBaun Springhill chapel, 85 E. Springhill Dr. with funeral services on Monday May 4, 2015 at 1:00 pm in the funeral home with Pastor Jeff Blansett officiating. Burial will be in Farmersburg West Lawn Cemetery. If friends so desire, the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
