Stephen “Steve” Ray Nickless, 75, of Terre Haute lost his battle with cancer on Saturday, September 5, 2026, and is now healed in Heaven. His tremendous faith in God gave him an amazing attitude and strength during this journey. Steve never complained and remained positive and strong within his faith.

He was born on August 26, 1951, in Terre Haute to Harold R. Nickless and Betty Jean French Nickless. Steve was a Navy veteran. He was an electrician/journeyman with IBEW 725 for 42 years. Steve loved the simple life. You could find him on his property mowing, cutting and splitting wood, or tinkering in his shop with various projects. He was very laid back and was a relentless tease. Steve was always ready to lend a helping hand. His big smile was contagious. Steve loved tractors of all kinds, but John Deere ruled. He also enjoyed motorcycles, dirtbikes, old cars, and old trucks. He was faithfully reading and studying his Bible. His family was his biggest treasure. Steve instilled his faith in God to his children and grandchildren. He will be missed beyond measure.

Steve is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Lee Ann Nickless, sons Brad Nickless, Matthew Nickless (Mhegan) and their children Morgan, Daemon, and Jasper; Cody Nickless (Jenn) and their children Andrew (Kali), and Wyatt; sister Connie Loveall, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at DeBaun Springhill Chapel from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Service will begin at the funeral home at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Julie Puttmann officiating. Burial will follow at New Harmony Cemetery.
