Stephen "Steve" L. Kimmell of Fairbanks made his homecoming to be with his Savior on Christmas morning, December 25, 2024, at his home.
Steve was born on May 6, 1948, the son of Ord Arthur Kimmell and Elizabeth Loretta (Wilson) Kimmell. He married Marlene (Bohn) Kimmell November 7, 1969. Steve served in the Army for six years with the 604th Military Police Battalion Headquarters. He retired from the Kroger Company after fifty years. He enjoyed talking with the customers and his co-workers. He was a member of the Fairbanks Baptist Church and loved his Lord and Savior. Talking about his family or being with them always put a smile on his face. Working in his woodshop was his favorite hobby.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Owen Jude Kimmell, one brother, and two brothers-in-law.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-five years, Marlene, one son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Wade and Mrs. Rachel Kimmell and three grandsons, Thatcher, Ethan, and Jack Kimmell, all of Noblesville; two brothers Larry Kimmell (Jeanne) and Mark Kimmell; two sisters, Mary Williams and Kay Gambill; and brother-in-law Mack Bohn. He is also survived by cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A visitation will be held on Monday, December 30, 2024 from 11 am to 1 pm at the Fairbanks Baptist Church, located at 6743 W Co Rd 800 N, Fairbanks, IN 47849. A memorial service will start at 1 pm at the church with Wade Kimmell, Pastor Larry Kimmell, and Pastor Cody Eaton officiating. Burial will follow at Pogue Cemetery north of Fairbanks with the military honor guard. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Owen Jude Kimmell Memorial Fund, Community Health Network Foundation, 37330 Shadeland Station, Suite 150, Indianapolis, Indiana 46256.
