Shirley A. Thornton, 78, of Terre Haute passed away Monday October 5, 2015 at 10:10 pm in Terre Haute Regional Hospital. She was born April 9, 1937 in Terre Haute to George W. Gallion and Helen I (Powell) Gallion. Shirley is survived by her sons, George Thornton of Terre Haute, Danny Thornton and wife Renda of Terre Haute, and Mike Thornton and wife Lesia of O'Fallon, IL; grandchildren, John Thornton and wife Lindsey, Mandi Anderson and husband Pat, and Mike Seybold and wife Tara; five great grandchildren and two nieces, Rita Miller and Janet Thompson. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Melvin E. Thornton, who died January 1, 2005, and two sisters, Wilma Tindall and Mary Denny. Shirley was a member of 8th Avenue Baptist Church. Visitation will be Friday October 9, 2015 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm in DeBaun Funeral Homes, Wabash Avenue Chapel, 2425 Wabash Ave. with funeral services at 1:00 pm in the funeral home with Pastor Dick Smith officiating.
