Shirley Ann Sankey, 77, of Terre Haute passed away Wednesday October 15, 2014 at 5:15 AM in her residence surrounded by family. She was born October 14, 1937 in Terre Haute to Ralph Winfield Carter and Catherine Francis Carter. Shirley is survived by her husband of 59 years, George Sankey; sons, George T. Sankey, Jr. and his wife Judy of Lewis, IN and Jeffrey Sankey and his wife Margaret of Carmel, IN; brother, William L. Carter, Sr. and his wife Patricia of West Terre Haute; grandchildren, Shane Sankey and wife Jamie, Josh Sankey, Lesley Sankey, Ashley Sparenberg and husband Chris, Kelby Sankey, Kalyn Sankey, and Katie Sankey; great grandchildren, Trinity, Kayla, and Kylie Sankey; step-grandchildren, Amelia and Autumn Long; sister-in-law, Ruby Sankey and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star #22 Riley Chapter and American Legion Ladies Auxiliary #328. Shirley very much enjoyed sewing and cooking. Visitation will be on Friday October 17, 2014 from 4:00 until 8:00 PM in DeBaun Funeral Home, Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Dr. with funeral services on Saturday October 18, 2014 at 10:00 AM in the funeral home with Pastor Jeff Lee officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. The family suggests that for those who desire, memorial contributions may be made to either, American Cancer Society or Gentiva Hospice (envelopes will be available at the funeral home)
