Shirley
Johnson
September 13, 1938 – December 16, 2024
Shirley McClure Johnson was born on September 13, 1938, in Sullivan, Indiana, to Clem and Delores McClure. She was the second oldest of her four siblings: Donald, Sharon, Richard, and Judy. Shirley is survived only by her sister, Sharon Swayze, of Avon, Indiana (along with a niece and several nephews).
Shirley was a loving wife who married the love of her life, Dale Clint Johnson, on July 7, 1957. They celebrated 67 years of marriage earlier this year, many of which were spent traveling and creating memories together.
Shirley was a dedicated mother to Debbie, Rhonda, and Scott. For more than 40 years of her life, Shirley raised her children and helped her husband, Dale, run their family farm. She is survived by all three of her children: Debra McCowen of Terre Haute, Rhonda (Daryl) Stearman of Plainfield, and Scott (Mickey) Johnson of Fairbanks.
Shirley was also a devoted grandmother to her seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Shirley passed away quietly, surrounded by loved ones, on December 16, 2024. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at DeBaun Springhill Chapel at 3:00 p.m. with Chaplain Chris Stahlman of Gentiva Hospice. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Please join the family in celebrating the life of Shirley McClure Johnson, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. In lieu of flowers, those who wish to honor Shirley's memory may make a donation to a charity of their choice in her name.
