Ruth A. Stringer, 79, of Terre Haute passed away Monday February 25, 2019 at 9:03 pm in Springhill Village. She was born March 10, 1939 in Columbus, OH. Ruth is survived by her husband of 42 years, Robert Stringer; sons, Robert Hollen of Greenfield and his wife Tamara of Columbus, IN; Chuck Tyner and his wife Seante of Chicago, and Jeffrey Stringer and his wife Shanda of Branson, MO; grandchildren, Matthew Hollen and his wife Mechelle, Joshua Hollen, Taylor Hollen, Jared Douglas, Ethan Tyner, and Sebastian Stringer; a sister, Jean West, and brothers, Robert Gourlay and Jim Gourlay. She was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Gourlay. She was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps Reserve. Ruth was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church; she was active at the YWCA and enjoyed walking every day. She was a reading mentor at Fuqua Elementary and a volunteer at the Crisis Pregnancy Center. A memorial service will be held on Sunday March 10, 2019 at 2:00 pm in First Southern Baptist Church with Pastor Jonathan LaFleur officiating. DeBaun Springhill Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
