Russell E. Cox, 89, of Terre Haute passed away Friday August 26, 2016 in his residence. He was a retired meat inspector for the U.S.D.A Russell was born October 25, 1926 in Mt. Carmel, IL to Otis Donald Cox and Bonnie V. (Buchannan) Cox. He is survived by sons, William Barnes (Judy) of Terre Haute and Brad Cox (Laura) of Terre Haute; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Bette Lucille Cox. Russell was a veteran of the US Navy in WW II and the United States Marine Corps in the Korean War. He was a member of the VFW Post #2950 in Corydon, IN and a 32 degree mason in the Pisgah Masonic Lodge #188. He enjoyed woodworking and loved to make and give away bird houses and he was a very social person who has a lot of friends and loved making new ones. Per his request there are no services scheduled and cremation has been chosen with burial at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery. DeBaun Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
