Obituary

Roy Milton Woodsmall, 91 of Terre Haute passed away Wednesday February 9, 2022 in Regional Hospital surrounded by his family. He was a farmer for most of his life. Roy was born December 24, 1930 in Riley Township to Homer R. and Betha (Price) Woodsmall. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Delores (Thompson) Woodsmall, whom he married May 2, 1953; daughters, Sandy Esker (Steve) and Sherry Lamb (Ronnie); granddaughter, Sally Harrison (Willy) and their daughter, Harley; sister, June Bechtold; sister-in-law, Doris Woodsmall and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Keith Woodsmall and Billy Woodsmall, Sr. and a great-nephew, Scott Holt. Roy was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of NAAV (National Association of Atomic Veterans). He was also a member of the Riley American Legion Post #348, where he was Vice Commander for 30 years, the Lawton-Byrum VFW Post #972, and a member of the Vigo County Fair Association. Roy adored his granddaughter, Sally and her husband Willy, who he considered the grandson he never had and he absolutely loved his great-granddaughter Harley. Graveside services will be Saturday February 12, 2022 at 2:30pm in Oak Hill Cemetery with Pastor Jeff Lee officiating and military honors provided by Riley American Legion.
