Rosemary Richards Oxendine, 105, of Terre Haute passed away on Monday, June 23, 2025. She was born on December 30, 1919, in Prairie Creek Township on the Maple Leaf farm on the banks of the Wabash River, to Alonzo Allen and Hazel Little Allen. Her father's ancestors were among the first settlers in Terre Haute.
Rosemary was a member of the Prairieton United Methodist Church. She was an active member of the Prairie Creek Home Extension Club, was a skilled seamstress making clothing for her children, and enjoyed painting. Rosemary loved to travel. She was able to visit many countries all over the world. Most of all being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother brought her the most happiness.
She is survived by her children Fauneil Boyer (Bob), Carol Hughes (Don), Dixie Thompson; grandchildren Rod Boyer (Lynn), Brenda Boyer, Jacque Bolton (Mike), Doug Thompson, Kent Thompson, and Andy Hughes (Melissa); great grandchildren Bill Bolton, Tobin Bolton, Kellan Bolton, Leighanna Thompson, and, Kayla Hughes; six great great grandchildren, stepchildren Robert Oxendine, Hugh Oxendine, Allen Oxendine, Debbie Archer (Buck), Cheryl McCoskey (Randy), and Ellen Oxendine and several beloved step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents, first husband of 42 years Lester Richards, second husband of 38 years Robert Oxendine, two brothers, great grandson Dominick Thompson, son in law Jim Thompson, and stepchildren Marsha Kay Good and David Oxendine.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at DeBaun Springhill Chapel from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Service will begin at the funeral home at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Julie Putmann. Cremation will follow service. Online condolences may be made to www.debaunfuneralhomes.com.
