Laswell
Ronald Eugene Laswell, 71, of Terre Haute passed away on September 25, 2013 at 2:15 a.m. He was born in Terre Haute to Edward Eugene Laswell and Mary Louise (Nicoson) Laswell on June 27, 1942. Growing up, Ronald farmed with his father. As time went on, he started trucking and logging. In 1965, he started farming with his brother-in-law Terry Jarvis. Ronald later began mining with his brother Steve. He was the co-founder of J H and L Coal Mine, Coal Inc., Redbird Mine, Buck Creek Mine, Catlin Coal, Howesville Mine, and the current Sunrise Coal, along with several other small strip mines. Ronald was a member of the Sycamore Club, and he supported Indiana State University Basketball. He enjoyed fishing and traveling. Ronald was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 50 years Janice May (Nees) Laswell; children Sharon Taylor, her husband Aaron of Durango, Colorado, Wayne Laswell, his wife Amy of Clinton, IN, Carol Williams, her husband Chad , Sarah Gossett and her husband Jeffrey all of Terre Haute ; grandchildren Jacob Taylor, his wife Jennifer, Joshua Taylor, Logan Laswell, Molly Moseley, her husband Jacob, Corey Snowden, Brice Snowden, Sydney Snowden, Nick Williams, Harry Williams, Rose Williams, Zachary Gossett, Mallory Gossett, and Zane Gossett; great grandsons Lincoln Taylor and Bowen Moseley; siblings Judy Jarvis, her husband Terry, Joe Laswell, his wife Linda, Linda Cremer, her husband Miles, Steve Laswell, his wife Debby, Mary Jane Hansel, her husband Bob, Debbie Laswell, Kim Osborne, and her husband John; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, September 28, 2013 at 3:00p.m. in DeBaun Funeral Homes Springhill Chapel, 85 E Springhill Drive. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Saturday from 11:00a.m. until service time.
