Robert Ray Strain, 86, of Prairie Creek passed away Tuesday December 12, 2017 at 12:44 pm in Southwood Healthcare Center. He was born December 5, 1931 in Vigo County to Elmer and Mary Strain. Robert retired from the Laborer's Union Local #204 and was a farmer. He is survived by a daughter, Lonna Watson and husband Dan of Prairie Creek; a son, John Strain of Terre Haute; grandchildren, Nathan Watson, Matthew Watson, Corey Pound, Laura Pound, Jasann Pound, Donald Bell, and Brieanna Bell; great-grandchildren, Zoee Miller, Kenneth Miller, Tyler Pendleton, and Dustin Pendleton; a sister, Janet Manley; brothers, Kenneth Strain, Jack Strain, and Terry Strain; a companion, Juanita Hayhurst and several nieces and nephews. Robert was a veteran of the US Air Force, a long-time member of the Sportsman Club and attended Dresser Church. Visitation is Saturday December 16, 2017 from 12 noon until 2:00 pm in DeBaun Springhill Chapel with funeral services at 2:00 pm in the funeral home with Pastor Kevin Dobson officiating.
