Robert P. Akers, 92, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at the Gibson Family Center for Hospice Care at Union Hospital. Bob was born January 11, 1931 in Vigo County to Farnest Lee Akers Sr and Idanna Mae Price Akers. A lifelong resident of Terre Haute, Bob graduated from Honey Creek High School and went into the Army after graduation.  After his time in the Army he managed the Texico Bulk plant and later worked for Indiana Gas.  Upon retiring from Indiana Gas he worked part-time for DeBaun Funeral Home.

Bob is survived by sister-in-law JoAnn Anderson of McCordsville, IN, sister-in-law Sally Thompson (Meredith) of Columbus, IN, and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his dear friends Marilyn Harney and Billy Wilson both of Terre Haute, IN.  He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Farest Lee Akers, Jr, James Herbert Akers, Jack Richard Akers and a sister, Mary Rose Akers.

Services will be Thursday, October 26, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Roselawn Memorial Chapel located at Roselawn Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to DeBaun Springhill Chapel.
