Robert "Bob" Alvin Hayes, 76, of Terre Haute, Indiana passed away, Monday, August 1, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family and loved ones. A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday August 4, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at DeBaun Funeral Home, 85 East Springhill Drive, Terre Haute, IN 47802. Pastor Kevin Dobson will be officiating. Friends may call prior to the service starting at 3:00 pm at the funeral home. Bob was born April 18, 1940 in Detroit, Michigan to Clarence "Rudy" and Ann (Alexander) Hayes. He graduated from Pike Township High School in 1958 and from General Motors Institute in 1962. On October 17, 1998 he married the former Margo Ranum in Myrtle Beach, SC. Bob spent a long career as an industrial engineer retiring in 1996 after spending 25 years with General Housewares Corporation in Terre Haute, IN. During his long life Bob was active in many organizations including Wabash Valley Scouts, 1st United Methodist Church in Marshall, IL; First Prairie Creek Baptist Church in Terre Haute, IN. Bob enjoyed spending his time with Margo, traveling to visit friends & family, playing golf, completing the daily crossword puzzle and cooking up family favorites. Bob is survived by the love of his life Margo (Ranum) Hayes; father and mother-in-law, Ben & Margaret Ranum; sister-in-law Mitzi Nichols; four sons, Steve (Mary) of Pensacola, FL, Greg (Sherry) of Frederick, MD, Mike (Crystal) of Indianapolis, IN and Kenneth (Debbie) of Corpus Christi, TX; one step-daughter Sara Scott of Terre Haute, IN; four grandchildren, Rebecca, Madison, Zackary and Jonathan; and several cousins He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudy and Ann, and his first wife Julia (Woner) Hayes in 1965. The family of Bob Hayes wishes to extend their sincere thanks to Great Lakes Caring Hospice, First Prairie Creek Baptist Church, neighbors and friends for their prayers and acts of kindness during this time. Memorials may be made to Great Lakes Caring Hospice or First Prairie Creek Baptist Church.
