Obituary

Robert (Bob) Ben Webber, 87, of Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, June 27, 2026, following a valiant and prolonged battle against cancer. He was born on June 15, 1939, in Vincennes, Indiana, to Burt and Thelma Webber. Bob graduated from Midland High School. Answering his nation’s call, he served in the United States Army as a Tracked Vehicle Mechanic with the 3rd Infantry Division, stationed in Würzburg, Germany, from 1957 to 1960. He continued his service in the Army Reserves until 1963. Following his honorable military service, Bob built a distinguished career with Eli Lilly and Company, where he worked in the capsule division for 32½ dedicated years. Bob was a man of remarkable intelligence and endless curiosity. His wide-ranging interests included history, music, woodworking, photography, biking, and cooking. He was an avid collector of coins, knives, guns, and watches. A thoughtful and observant soul, he contemplated life deeply — a quality that found expression in the poetry he wrote. He had a great sense of humor and was able to find and appreciate the humorous moments in daily life. His humor never failed him, even in moments of adversity. He also loved to travel. His travels included but were not limited to Europe, Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, and most of the Caribbean islands. Above all, Bob loved his friends and family, a good time, a good laugh, and a good dog. His warm presence, wit, and genuine affection for those around him will be remembered by all who knew him and he will be deeply missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, Burt and Thelma Webber; his brother, Glenn; his sister, Peggy, his second wife, Debra, and his dogs Peach and Patch. He was also preceded in death by his niece Theresa, and a very special nephew, Allen. Bob is survived by his two beloved daughters Dana (Webber) Scully and Stacy (Webber) Stanton and spouse Troy Stanton. Grandchildren, Sammie Scully, Jack Scully, Mackenzie (Jordan) Houser, Madison (Brandon) Curley, and Jayden Stuck. He also had four great-grandchildren: Hadlee Houser, Nora Houser, Will Houser, and Brooks Curley. He is also survived by his beloved dog Gracie who will be adopted by his dear niece Robin and her husband James. The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the dedicated doctors, nurses, and staff of Heart to Heart Hospice for the exceptional care, compassion, and guidance they extended to Bob and to his entire family during the final months of his life. Their kindness was a true comfort and will not be forgotten. Special appreciation is given to Renee, Babs and Dr Deshpande with Heart to Heart who went above and beyond in his final days. A Celebration of Life with Military Services will be held July 5, 2026 at 5pm at the home of his daughter Stacy. All who would like to celebrate Bob's life with us are welcome; please reach out to the family for directions. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to any U.S. Armed Forces Veterans charity of your choice. Online condolences may be left at www.debaunfuneralhomes.com
