Robert E. Axe of Terre Haute passed away on Friday, January 28, 2022 at the age of 89.  He was born February 14, 1932 in Terre Haute to Oscar J. Axe and Esther Mae Axe.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife of 55 years, Margaret; daughter-in-law Kathy Axe and son-in-law Vernon Harlan.

As a young boy in the 1940's Robert started working horses, hauling ashes and cinders.  He served his country in the United States Army, stationed in Germany.  After being discharged in the United States, he traveled back to Germany to the girl he fell in love with, and married Margaret September 11, 1954.

Robert retired from Stran Steel after working for over 25 years.  He then fulfilled his lifelong dream of being a horse farmer where he had horse drawn equipment and draft horses.

Robert is survived by daughter Emma Axe Harlan of Terre Haute and his sons John Axe (Lauren) of Decatur, Illinois and Bill Axe of Terre Haute, three grandchildren Bob Axe (Debbie) of Decatur, Illinois, Tim Axe (Melissa) of Decatur, Illinois, and Jared S. Harlan (Courtney) of Terre Haute, and niece Sandra Lanke of Hudson, Florida

Private graveside services will be held at New Harmony Cemetery.
