Rita Lynne Althoff, 63, born November 2, 1962, in Clinton, Indiana, went home to be with the Lord on October 18, 2026. A woman of strong faith and a firm belief in God, Rita lived her life with a generous heart, a quick wit, and a wonderful sense of humor. She brought laughter and joy into the lives of those fortunate enough to know her.

Rita and her beloved husband, Darrell Althoff, shared 22 wonderful years of marriage, building a beautiful life together filled with love, laughter, adventure, and treasured friendships. They recently celebrated their wedding anniversary with a special trip to San Antonio, Texas.

Throughout their marriage, Rita accompanied Darrell on overseas travels during his military service. Together, they experienced different countries, cultures, and adventures, creating wonderful memories along the way.

Rita’s grandchildren held an especially precious place in her heart. She loved them dearly and treasured the time they spent together. Being a grandmother brought her the greatest happiness, and her love for her grandchildren was one of the many beautiful parts of her life.

Rita attended Ivy Tech Community College and enjoyed a diverse and interesting career, working in the fire department, a jail, a women’s prison, and in the hospitality industry. She was also a member of the Riley American Legion Auxiliary.

One of Rita and Darrell’s favorite traditions was their annual trip to Jamaica with close friends, something they always looked forward to. These trips brought years of wonderful memories, laughter, and unforgettable times together.

Rita has a special love for animals, especially ducks, and took great pride in their lake home and everything that made it special.

Known for her sharp wit, fun-loving spirit, and big heart, Rita had a way of making ordinary moments memorable. She treasured her family, her friendships, and the simple pleasures of life, especially those shared with the people she loved.

Rita leaves behind countless cherished memories, stories that will continue to be told, and laughter that will never be forgotten.

She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered by those whose lives she touched.
