Rickie L. Daugherty, 63, of Terre Haute passed away October 15, 2014 at Union Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born in Ohio County, KY on June 30, 1951 to Daymon and Theda (Westerfield) Daugherty. Mr. Daugherty was employed by the Federal Bureau of Prisons from 1984-2008 and retired as a Sr. Office Specialist. He also had been employed the Tribune-Star both before and after his military service with the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War era. He was a 1969 graduate of Wiley High School, a member of the Joseph A. Bray Detachment 471, Marine Corps League, and the Blue Knights, a law enforcement motorcycle club. His hobbies included tennis, traveling, reading and riding motorcycles. He was preceded in death by his parents and his dogs Kaiser and Gus whom he considered his children. His survivors include sisters Shawnette Stephens and her husband Don of Terre Haute, Teresa Jeffords and her husband Robert of Valdosta, GA; brothers Tim Daughterty of Terre Haute and Tony Daugherty of Valdosta, GA; nieces and nephews Traci Hart and husband Frank, Kailynn Jeffords, Erik Lumsdon and wife Heather, Dustin Jeffords and wife Camille; great-nieces and nephews Betsy Bartee and husband Brandon, Patrick Hart, Karson Hart, Ethan Lumsdon, and Eli Lumsdon. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 6 p.m. in DeBaun Springhill Chapel with Kathy Burns officiating. The funeral will begin with a memorial ceremony by the Marine Corps League. Calling hours will be from 2 p.m. until service time. Memorial contributions may be made to Hux Cancer Center or Camp Wabashi. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
