Rick "Scooby" Scarbrough, 62, passed away on August 18, 2023 surrounded by his family. He was born on October 4, 1960 in Terre Haute to Jack Scarbrough and Phyllis "Bunny" (Hodges) Kessner. Rick worked as a coal miner for Peabody and Bear Run for over 25 years.

Rick loved being outside. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he was known for taking his ranger everywhere. Rick loved sending time with family, especially his grandsons. He was a member of both the Shriner's and Masonic Organizations for over 30 years.

He is survived by his girlfriend of 8 years Julie Shew, both parents, daughter Chasitie Lee (Matt), brothers Jeff Scarbrough (Donna) and Wes Scarbrough (Amy), step-brother John Kessner, grandchildren Hunter Lee and Luke Lee, and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his stepfather Jerry Kessner and grandmother Sylvia Hodges.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at DeBaun Springhill Chapel from 4 pm to 8 pm with a Shiner's and Masonic service starting at 7pm.
