Richard Lee Whitaker Sr., 69, of Terre Haute passed away unexpectedly on June 25, 2013 in Union Hospital. He was born on July 29, 1943 in Terre Haute to Wallace Whitaker and Dora (Schappel) Whitaker. He served in the Vietnam War in the United States Navy. He retired from Multiple Packaging. Richard was a member of the VFW #972. He enjoyed fishing and scratching off lottery tickets. Richard is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 44 years Sharon (Grady) Whitaker; sons Rich Whitaker, Kevin Whitaker, and his wife Angela; grandchildren Alexis Ohl, Kaden Whitaker, Justin Asbury, and Samantha Whitaker; brothers Marion Whitaker, his wife Nancy, and Dale Whitaker. Richards's wishes were to be cremated. There are no services scheduled. The family has entrusted DeBaun Springhill Chapel, 85 E Springhill Drive, with making arrangements.
