Richard L. Strain, 81, of Terre Haute passed away at his residence Thursday morning, June 20, 2013. He was born on October 13, 1931 to Lawrence and Pearl Johnson Strain and the have preceded him in death. He was retired from the shipping department at CBS and had also been in insurance sales. He was a member of the Wabash Western Riders Saddle Club and the Terre Haute Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Aerie # 291. He was an avid horse lover his entire life. His survivors include his longtime companion Joan Keegan, a daughter Cherri Brooks and her husband Mike, three sons Rick Strain and wife Adrianna, Mark Strain and wife Patricia, Randy Strain and wife Mary Beth. He also has two sisters Mary Lou Kester and Judy Cress; and one brother Larry Strain. There are 13 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a son, Gary Strain and a brother Russell Strain. Funeral services will be 4 p.m., Sunday June 23, 2013 at DeBaun Springhill Chapel. Friends may call from 2 p.m. Sunday until services. Burial will be in New Harmony Cemetery.
