Richard Patrick Jones (Rick), age 65, of Terre Haute, Indiana, passed away on April 30, 2023, after battling a long-term illness.  Rick was born March 11, 1958, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to First Sgt. Robert and Margaret (Sparks) Jones of Terre Haute.  He was a graduate of Terre Haute South class of 1976 and enlisted in the United States Navy in April 1976.  Rick held the position of Avionics Technician with the P3 Squadron serving four overseas deployments.  He earned an Honorable Discharge in May 1985, when he and his family returned to Terre Haute.  After his military service, he continued a civilian avionics profession until he began a career as an Electronics Technician at Eli Lilly, Clinton Laboratories in May 1992 through his retirement in 2018.  Rick was a very loving and supportive son, brother, father, uncle, and grandfather. He enjoyed the outdoors, camping, fishing, gardening, traveling, the ocean, reading, music, and was a lover of dogs, specifically German Shepards and Golden Retrievers.  He was an avid collector and hobbyist with his most recent enjoyment of beekeeping.

Rick will be dearly missed by his family, his loving daughters Nicole (Jon) Bledsoe of Terre Haute, and Brandy (Jason) Gunther of Florida, three granddaughters Allison Bledsoe, Trista, and Colette Gunther; siblings Michael (Olga) Jones of Terre Haute, and Laura (Jeff) Redmon of Florida; several nieces and nephews along with extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Margaret Jones.
