Richard Neil Lewis, Sr., 81 of Terre Haute, passed away on Friday, August 12, 2016 at 3:32 PM at Springhill Village. He was born in Highsplint, KY on February 21, 1935 to Joseph Lewis and Nannie Rutherford Lewis. Richard was a retired welder from J. I. Case and also was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and also served with the 181st Air National Guard. He was a member of Wayne Newton American Legion Post # 346 and also served as a Pastor at Gospel Way Church. Richard is survived by his wife Norma Sparks Lewis, and children: Richard Neil Lewis, Jr. (Kevin Clark), Rhonda Jean Tharp (Ray), and Anthony Wayne Lewis. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Audrey Tharp, Ozlynne Tharp, Dayton Lewis , and Nilah Lewis. Other survivors include two stepchildren, Randall Butts and Diana Lawson, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Robert Lewis. Funeral services will be held at DeBaun Springhill Chapel on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at 2:00 PM, with Pastor Lorraine Herrick officiating. Burial will follow in Stephens Cemetery in Lewis, IN, with Military Rites performed by Wayne Newton American Legion Post # 346. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday from 12 Noon - 2:00 PM on Wednesday in the funeral home.
