Richard R. layman, 90, of Terre Haute passed away Sunday April 12, 2015 at 8:40 am in Meadows Manor north Nursing Home. He was a retired foreman from National Steel, having retired in 1975. Richard was born August 21, 1924 in Terre Haute to Lloyd E. Layman and Grace E. (Lucas) Layman. He is survived by sisters-in-law, Janice Layman, Sue Layman, and Maxine Layman and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by by his long-time companion, Delores Barnes and brothers, Lloyd Layman, Jerry Layman, James Layman and Chester Layman. Richard was a US Army veteran having serving during WW II in the Asian-Pacific theater. Graveside services are scheduled for Thursday April 16, 2015 at 2:00 pm in Grandview Cemetery with Pastor Merrill Weir officiating. Military graveside honors will be provided by American Legion Post #104. DeBaun Funeral Homes, Springhill Chapel, 85 E. Springhill Dr. is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the charity of choice.
