Reita "Susie" Sue Schnabel, 91, passed away on July 22, 2025. She was born on September 11, 1933 in Prairie Creek to William and Clarice (Liston) Ring. Susie taught for over 35 years, mostly for the Vigo County School Corporation, and she was also one of the founders of the Terre Haute Children's Museum. Susie enjoyed painting and birdwatching and loved to listen, play, and teach music.

She is survived by her sons Bill Schnabel (Annette), Jim Schnabel (Annette), Tom Schnabel (Cindy), and Ken Schnabel (Townsend); siblings Nelle Norris (Larry) and Jane McClure; brother-in-law Max Kirk, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Jim Schnabel, sister Linda Kirk, and brother-in-law Chuck McClure.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025 from 1 pm to 3 pm At DeBaun Funeral Home with a funeral service beginning at 3 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Terre Haute Children's Museum. Online condolences can be made at www.debaunfuneralhomes.com.
