Rebecca Ann Hemmrich, age 81, passed away May 4, 2017 at home in Midland, Georgia. She was born in Terre Haute, Indiana on September 17, 1935 to William L . and Bernettia L . Smith Stout. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Norm Hemmrich, one daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Andy Thornton (Midland, GA), and two sons, Steven Hemmrich (Virginia Beach, VA) and David Hemmrich and daughter-in-law, Genie Hemmrich (Terre Haute, IN). She is also survived by granddaughters, Allison Hutcheson (Griffin, GA) and Kaitlyn Tatum (Virginia Beach, VA) and grandsons, Seth and Samuel Hemmrich (Terre Haute, IN), Josh Hemmrich (Virginia Beach, VA), and Michael Thornton (Columbus, GA). Rebecca was a graduate of Wiley High School and she received her graduate and post graduate degrees from Indiana State University. She served as an elementary school teacher in Terre Haute, IN, Houston, TX, LaGrange, GA, and Athens, GA.  Rebecca and her husband were members of Christ Community Church in Columbus, GA. Services will be held Monday, May 8 at DeBaun South Funeral Home in Terre Haute. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm., followed by a service at 2:00 pm.
