Reba Mae Vencel, 88 of Prairieton, passed away at 4:26 PM on Thursday, July 23, 2015 in Terre Haute Regional Hospital. She was born in Vigo County on September 26, 1926 to Emmitt "Pete" Myers and Goldie Kurtz Myers. Reba was a member of Prairieton United Methodist Church and the Prairieton Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiallary. She is survived by a daughter, Shirley Vencel Jarvis (husband John Mark), and a son, John S. "Gus" Vencel, Jr. (wife Terri). Also surviving is a brother, Billy K. Myers, and her grandchildren; Chelsea Lynn Hazlett, Damon Jarvis, Trevor Jarvis, Steve Jarvis, John Michael Jarvis, Jessica Renee Vencel, Rachel Ann Vencel, and Joe Ray Vencel. In addition she is survived by great grandchildren; J.D., Preston, Ty, Alex, Nick, Ethan, Ava, Isabella, Sophia, and Roxie, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband John S. Vencel, Sr. on October 27, 1994, as well as her sister, Christine Allen. Funeral Services will be held at DeBaun Springhill Chapel on Sunday, July 26, 2015 at 3:00 PM, with Rev. Duane Caperton officiating. Burial will follow in New Harmony Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, July 26, 2015 from 1:00 -3:00 PM in DeBaun Springhill Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Prairieton United Methodist Church, in her memory. Reba's family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Cobblestone Crossings for the excellent care given to her during her stay there.
