Obituary

Raymond Frederick (Fred) Stout, 83, of Terre Haute, IN was called home to our Lord on February 3, 2016. He was born in Terre Haute, IN to Clifford I. and Rachel E. Stout. He graduated from Wiley High School in 1950. Fred spent 4 years in the Air Force from 1950-1954 and married Lavedia M Easton on December 26, 1954. He graduated with a teaching degree from Indiana State Teachers College, teaching at Otter Creek and retiring from Sarah Scott after teaching mathematics and chairing the Industrial Arts program. He influenced the lives of many young minds as a teacher, a 4-H leader, and coach at the Pierson Twp Ball Park. Fred was an active member of the Blackhawk/Pierson Twp community serving with the Lions Club, Blackhawk Community Church, and the citizen's patrol. He was a member of Gideons International and shared his faith speaking at churches and witnessing on college campuses. He was also a 43 year member of the International Skamper Club and taught his family the love of camping. Fred loved teaching others life skills including woodworking, maintenance, and construction projects. His artistic nature may be seen in his many projects and creations. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and sister-Naomi England Burgess. He is survived by his children, Veta (Don) Goucher of Terre Haute, Bradley (Jenell) Stout of Ellettsville, Vicki (Brent Tomey) Wildman of Norman, Valeri (Kevin) Sweeney of Dayton, OH; 7 grandchildren, Eric (Diana) Goucher, Mindy (Jay) Burgos-Ramirez, Michael Stout, Jackie (JD) O'Mullane, Ben (Natalie) Sweeney, Tiffany (James) Ankeney, and Dannielle Sweeney; and 10 great-grandchildren, Taylor Montgomery, Haley Stout, Maverick O'Mullane, Rory Goucher, Alexander Sweeney, Bria Ankeney, Gabriel Sweeney, Trey Burgo-Ramirez, Lily Ankeney, and Layla Sweeney. The family would like to thank all caregivers who provided loving care to our father. A special thanks to our life-long friend Keith Taylor for his continuous daily contacts to our father these past several months. Visitation will be Monday February 8, from 4-8 P.M. at the DeBaun Springhill Chapel in Terre Haute, IN. Funeral Service are Tuesday, February 9 at 1:00 P.M. at DeBaun Springhill Chapel, with Rev. Jeff Lee officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Gideons International, 5250 E. U.S. Highway 36, Avon, IN 46123, Pierson Township Fire Department, 7610 Firehouse Dr., Pimento, IN 47866 and Pierson Township Lions Club, 6400 E. French Dr., Pimento, IN 47866.
