Enyart Mannies Miller

Rachel Jane Enyart Mannies Miller, a native of Peru, Indiana, died Friday, August 8, 2025 at Westminster Village in Terre Haute, Indiana. She was 93.
She worked at various Indiana banks during her life, often in the loan or mortgage departments. She also worked as an Avon saleswoman and obtained her real estate license to work as a realtor. For a time in the 1970s, she worked as a dispatcher for the Kokomo Police Department.
When she retired in 1993, Rachel was a vice president at National City Bank.
Rachel was born on September 13, 1931 at the home of her paternal grandmother in Macy, Indiana. Her parents were LeRoy Enyart and Edith King Enyart.
Rachel graduated from Peru High School in 1949 and attended Indiana University. She married Oscar H. "Junior" Mannies of Peru on January 8, 1950. While he completed college on the GI Bill, she worked as a secretary, and later became employed by a bank.
The couple had four children: Jo Ellen Mannies Gierse (James) of St. Louis; Patricia Ann Mannies Carrick (Gregg) of Terre Haute; Gary John Mannies (Charlene) of Carmel, Indiana; and David Lynn Mannies of Atlanta, Georgia.
Junior Mannies died in March 1983. Rachel subsequently married Wilbur "Butch" Miller of Peru on August 3, 1993. The Millers were married until his death in March 2016.
Aside from her children, survivors include two sisters: Joeann McManus of Avon Park, Florida and Willa Enyart Glosser of Bunker Hill, Indiana; a brother, David Orion Enyart of Roanoke, Indiana; seven grandchildren – Margaret LaMore, Matthew Gierse, Jacqui Ellis, Christina Carrick, Joshua Mannies, Christopher Mannies and Zachary Mannies; and six great-grandchildren.
Rachel was preceded in death by a sister, Ella LaFara; and a brother, Allen Enyart.
A Celebration of Life reception will be held at Westminster Village in Terre Haute, IN on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at 1:00 pm. Burial and graveside services will be the next day, Friday, August 22, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Peru, IN at 1:00 pm.
