Paul William Newman, 88, of Terre Haute passed away Friday, February 25, 2022 at Terre Haute Regional Hospital.  He was born August 24, 1933 in Terre Haute to James Newman and Nellie Liffick Newman.  Paul served in the Marines during the Korean War.  He and his wife Jeri were active members of St. Joseph University Parish throughout their attendance.  Paul served as President of the Parish Council while Jeri served on many committees and organized church functions.  He was an avid reader.  He also enjoyed going to the casino and playing cards with family.  Paul loved animals, especially the birds, squirrels, and rabbits he fed at home.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Geraldine "Jeri" Newman, daughter Paula Lane (Brian), granddaughter Courtney Lane, sister-in-law Betty Hopewell (Dale), and cousin Ann Marie Taylor.  Paul was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and six sisters.

Visitation will be Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at DeBaun Springhill Chapel from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  Service will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Friar Cyprian Uline will officiate.  Entombment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made in honor of Paul to the Terre Haute Humane Society.
