Paul E. Chatman, 87, lifelong Terre Haute resident, passed away March 14, 2015 with his loving family by his side. He was born on June 20, 1927 to Commodore and Elberta (Ledbetter) Chatman. He was raised by his step-mother Thelma (Hipkiss) Chatman. They have preceded him in death. He was a US Navy veteran of WW 2. Paul was a 26 year employee of Commercial Solvents Corporation and then retired in December 1990 after having worked at Eli Lilly Clinton Lab for 21 years. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Norma (Gosnell) Chatman and a grandson Kevin Dossett. He is survived by three daughters, Sandra K. Beaman, Rebecca S. Chatman and Noel Johnson, and Carolyn Wilson and her husband Harry; two sons, Larry Chatman and his wife Donna and Garry Chatman. There are seven grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren. Paul was a member of AARP, Navy Destroyer Escort Association—DESA Chapter #1 of Indiana, and Sampson WW 2 Navy Veterans. Visitation will be on Saturday, March 21, 2015 in DeBaun Springhill Chapel at 4 p.m. Memorial services will begin at 6 p.m. with Rev. Dan Gormong officiating. Keeping with his wishes cremation was chosen with a private family burial in Durham Cemetery. For those who choose, memorial contributions can be made to either Great Lakes Home Health Care or VNA Hospice of the Wabash Valley. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
