Patricia (Pat) Breault, 84, passed away peacefully on Sept. 13, 2023, in Oshkosh, WI.

Pat was born to the late Val and Thelma Maulding, Aug. 21, 1939 in Evansville, IN.  She graduated from Evansville's Central High School and received a Bachelors degree in Physical Education, Health and Recreation from Indiana State Teachers College, now Indiana State University (ISU).  She later returned to school, earning a Masters degree in Library Science from ISU.

She married the late Stanley Eugene (Gene) Breault, moving to Michigan for a year before returning to Terre Haute, IN.  In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Maulding.

Pat is survived by her daughter Kimberly (Paul) Ellefson, of Oshkosh, WI, and two grandchildren:  Steven Ellefson of NY, NY, and Sara Ellefson, of Oak Creek, WI.  She is also survived by her sister-in-law Nancy Maulding, special cousin Stuart Varden, and nephew Michael Maulding.

Pat was a lifelong learner, traveler, and teacher who greeted all that met or knew her with a ready smile (and likely a hug).  She retired from Vigo County School Corporation, after 37 years, teaching in multiple elementary and middle schools.  After retirement, she shifted focus and energy to volunteer countless hours with the Educational Heritage Association, a group dedicated to the history of Terre Haute schools.

Pat was passionate about her career as a school librarian and her love of books.  The adventures she found between the pages led to a yearning to see more of the world.  She was able to travel extensively in retirement.  She made it to all 50 states as well as all seven continents.  The best adventures were those shared with friends and family.

Pat loved sharing that she spent all but one year near US-41.  Her journey began in Evansville, then moved to Terre Haute, and finally Oshkosh, WI where she spent her last years near her daughter and family.  She will be making her last trip back to Terre Haute, where she will posthumously rejoin friends for a celebration of her life, including those from her church family.

Visitation will be held from 10 am – noon on Monday, Sept. 18, followed by funeral services.  Both will be held at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church in Terre Haute. Burial will follow at Highland Lawn Cemetery, next to her late husband Gene.
