Jeffers
December 8, 1939 – March 11, 2018
Pastor Gene Alan Jeffers, 78, of Terre Haute, husband of Barbara Brodie Jeffers, went home to be with the Lord, on Sunday, March 11, 2018, at the IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born in Terre Haute, IN, he was the son of Glen A. and Irene O. Jeffers. He attended Gerstmeyer High School. He was a member of the 1955 Babe Ruth League World Championship team. Gene served the Indiana National Guard. He attended Indiana State. He worked for twenty-four years in the composing room of the Tribune Star. He loved his Lord Jesus Christ and preached the gospel as a pastor for fifty-three years. In August of 2017, he retired as pastor of Forest Park Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Steve Jeffers of Terre Haute and wife Sherry of Portsmouth, VA; a daughter Joanna Davis and husband Jeff of Greenville, SC; a daughter Susie Wirth and husband Paul of Tampa, FL; and a daughter Rebecca Goins and husband Mark of Nashville, TN; a brother Keith Jeffers and wife Cindy; and eleven grandchildren, Jordan, Jared, Joel, Caleb, Bethany, Abigail, Hannah, Ashlynn, Anthony, Brody, and Noah. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jerry and Jay.
A memorial service will be held at 6:30 PM Monday at DeBaun Springhill Chapel with Pastors Jeff Davis, Bert Baker, and Chuck Rawsthorne officiating. The family will receive friends Monday before the service from 4:00 – 6:30 PM.
